P3 Explore the animal kingdom

3rd Jul 2025

Primary 3 had a fantastic time learning all about animals during Term 3!

We kicked off our topic by discovering the amazing ways animals survive in their environments. The children carried out a fun (and chilly!) science experiment to find out whether blubber really helps animals stay warm in cold climates.

Next, we explored camouflage and how animals use it both to protect themselves from predators and to sneak up on their prey. P3 loved spotting hidden animals and even tried creating their own camouflaged creatures.

As part of our learning, we also discussed the important topic of animals in zoos. Pupils thought carefully and shared arguments both for and against keeping animals in captivity. We were very impressed by their thoughtful ideas.

We finished our topic with an animal part, enjoying some delicious treats and playing some animal-themed party games!
