‘Blast From the Past’ - back to school in the 1930s
Today, our pupils stepped back in time and experienced a morning of lessons just as children would have in the 1930s.
The classroom was very different from what we are used to today. Pupils were expected to remain silent, only speaking when spoken to, and standing respectfully when answering questions. When the teacher was talking, everyone sat with their hands on their legs and listened carefully.
They took part in traditional activities including rote learning, silent reading, and plenty of writing using chalk and blackboards. They quickly discovered how different school life was nearly 100 years ago and showed excellent focus, resilience and respect throughout the morning.
It was a fascinating experience that brought history to life and gave everyone a greater appreciation of how education has changed over the years. Well done to all our pupils for embracing the challenge and making the most of this unique learning opportunity!
