Numeracy activities in P1!

19th Nov 2020

We are learning little rhymes to help us to recognise the numbers up to 5 and we love to play “Show me...” with our number lines!  We are now able to count a set of up to 5 objects accurately and are working hard to form our numbers correctly too.  We have some very “naughty teddies” in our classroom, that are always getting into the wrong order but P1 are so good at getting them back in order!

We are also learning about 2D shapes; circle, square, rectangle and triangle.  We enjoy guessing the shape that’s in Miss Montgomery’s feely bag and playing the “Shape Monsters” game on our SMART board.   In Play Based Learning this week, we’ve been making vehicles using the attribute shapes!  We even took our own photo with the iPad, of the vehicle that we had made!

Pascal has been teaching us how to say the numbers 1-6 in French through lots of fun activities so we can go on a little (virtual!) trip to the “patisserie” next week to buy some buns for Mrs Neilly! 🧁🧁🧁🧁🧁 We even had a little competition today between the boys and the girls!  I’ll let you decide who was the best!

We hope these photos and videos give you a little glimpse of the fun we are having in Numeracy!
